Montreal, 27 June 2016 – The co-executive directors of the Festival TransAmériques, Martin Faucher and David Lavoie, are pleased to announce the appointment of Louise Roussel as production manager. She will officially assume her new duties on August 17, 2016.

“With a solid international reputation in the performing arts milieu, Louise Roussel has considerable expertise as a production manager. Her enviable experience in international touring, notably with shows created by Robert Lepage and Ex Machina, will enable us to maintain our high standards in terms of welcoming companies invited to the FTA as well as those involved in co-productions. Her recent experience in the production program at the National Theatre School of Canada will help consolidate the Festival’s production sector. After Lucie Juneau’s many invaluable years of dedication, we are pleased to welcome into our team a new ally of Louise Roussel’s calibre.” – Martin Faucher and David Lavoie

“I have been attending the FTA for several years – if not decades! – and each time my passion for contemporary dance and theatre is constantly renewed. I will be both honoured and delighted to direct the Festival production team and to support the various dance and theatre shows presented at the Festival, from the most intimate to the most unreasonable.”  – Louise Roussel

Professional Career

Louise Roussel has been head of the production program at the National Theatre School of Canada since 2010. An indispensable and much appreciated resource, her duties there include teaching and training, administrative work and the recruitment of outstanding teachers to work with the students. After obtaining a B.A. in theatre from UQAM in 1988, she began her professional career working for many different companies, festivals and events as a technical director or stage manager. These included the Coup de cœur francophone, Pierre-Paul Savoie Danse, the Maison de la Culture Mercier, Théâtre de Verdure and the Festival de théâtre des Amériques, now known as the Festival TransAmériques.
