Departure of Co-Executive Director and Administrative Director

Festival TransAmériques Board of Directors announces the departure of Sandra O'Connor, co-executive director and administrative director. She will step down on September 25 to pursue a new career opportunity.

Since joining the organization in June 2024, Sandra has played a key role in several initiatives, particularly the renewal of the board of directors and the increase in public funding.

“Her commitment to the Festival team and professional networks, her diligence and her outstanding personal qualities have contributed to the FTA’s growth and the success of its 20th edition, which drew a record number of festivalgoers. The board of directors warmly thanks Sandra for her contribution to the Festival and wishes her all the best as she embarks on this new chapter in her career.” — Michèle Lefaivre, President, Board of Directors

“I am leaving FTA with a great deal of emotion. My time here has been shaped by many meaningful human and artistic encounters. I feel truly honoured to have had the opportunity to contribute to an event that continually renews what we know about and expect from theatre and dance, and to have worked alongside such a passionate team. I am also grateful to the Board of Directors for the trust they placed in me. FTA has held a very special place in Montreal’s cultural life for over 40 years now. I hope it will continue to surprise us, move us, and shine for many years to come.” — Sandra O'Connor

Martine Dennewald will continue in her roles as Co-Executive Director and Co-Artistic Director, working alongside Co-Artistic Director Jessie Mill. With the support of the team and the board of directors, she will ensure continuity in the Festival’s activities while the board’s governance committee begins a recruitment process.

Festival TransAmériques is moving ahead with enthusiasm as it prepares for its 21st edition, taking place from May 26 to June 10, 2027.
