A Laboratory of the Imagination

Festival TransAmériques is delighted to announce the artists who will benefit from FTA Respirations in 2022-2023. Created 2 years ago, this support program has established itself as a laboratory devoted to experimentation and the development of artistic practices.

This year, FTA is investing $112,000 to fund 21 projects in Quebec, Canada and elsewhere. Thanks to Respirations, the Festival initiates new conversations, grows its artistic families, and participates in the development of future projects. The program serves as a powerful tool for change that will make FTA richer in the long run.

Respirations makes it possible to support creators before they perform their works, during the research phase or the early stages of their process. The Festival wishes to express its profound gratitude to the donors who participated in its annual fundraising campaign in 2021-2022. Through their generous support, they contributed a grand total of $40,360 to FTA Respirations

FTA Respirations 2022-2023 is supporting 21 projects by nearly 20 creators: Ange Blédja Kouassi + Lois Brown (St. John’s) + Marilou Craft + Amélie Dallaire + Olivia Davies (Ottawa Valley) + Justin de Luna + Oona Doherty (Belfast) + Frédérique PAX Dumas + Marie-Ève Fontaine (Ottawa) + Frédérick Gravel + Winnie Ho + Jessica Huber (Zurich) + Marie-Reine Kabasha + Lara Kramer + Iannicko N’Doua + Julie-Christina Picher (Saguenay) + Morena Prats + Andrew Turner + Nate Yaffe

FTA is also associating with Studio 303 for Queer Performance Camp, and will work alongside LA SERRE – arts vivants for the third year in a row, to support the project Trajet 1. Respirations offers research or creative residencies in close collaboration with valued partners across the province. As a result, Salon 58 in Marsoui (Gaspé Peninsula), the residency project CONTACT(s) in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc (Mauricie), and Théâtre Gilles-Vigneault in St-Jérôme (the Laurentians) will each host an artist.
