PETER BROOK

Right from the outset a latter-day griot (African musician-entertainer) addresses the audience with his tale of a great love story, that of Matilda and Philemon in Sophiatown.

Details

One morning when Philemon comes home from work earlier than usual, his life falls to pieces. He finds Matilda in bed with another man. The lover flees naked out the window, leaving his grey suit behind on a chair. Philemon will have his revenge. The suit, that telltale trace of her infidelity, will be the pivotal element on which will hang the fate of Matilda, victim of a husband mad with love and jealousy.
