Richard Foreman, the founder of the Ontological-Hysteric Theater and a leading light of the American avant-garde, has been writing and directing eccentric, exceptional works since 1968, plays that are wild, iconoclastic, hilarious and penetrating. A sort of psychoanalytic vaudeville, Pearls for Pigs explores the contradictions of the human psyche through the character of an actor who tires to make each moment on stage a visionary dance above the abyss, thus disturbing his fellow actors, throwing them and the audience delightfully off balance.
