S’ENVOLER
Shifting from vacillating waltz to furious takeoff, a clutch of fledglings ventures forth to conquer the world. A spectacular swan dive into the exhilaration of dance.
Wings of Desire
Onto an immaculate white stage a shy and restless brood advances, an innocent clutch of fledglings venturing forth to conquer the world. Propelled by an irrepressible frenzy, bodies fidget and stumble into each other. Danger lurks. But how to ignore the sudden impulses that drive them out of the group? Beset by fear or fired by desire, the 12 dancers move apart before flocking back to the group in a constant back-and-forth of vacillating waltz and furious takeoff. With comical clumsiness and glorious gesture, they eventually succeed in taking flight.
Estelle Clareton was inspired by migratory birds in this luminous metaphor for achieving freedom and independence. With remarkable fluidity, she conveys the movement of life in choreographic flight dominated by spirit, tenderness and joy. A spectacular swan dive into the exhilaration of dance.
CRÉATION CAFÉINE + MONTRÉAL DANSE / Energy to Spare
In addition to choreography commissioned by other companies, Estelle Clareton creates pieces for her own company, Création Caféine, which she founded in 1999. After Juliette,C’est à 30 ans que quoi déjà?, Monsieur and Messieurs, Dame, in 2005 she gave voice to accumulated anger in a series of 24 works entitled FURIES, after the Greek goddesses of vengeance who punish the guilty. But the rage that roared in Alpha 1/24, The Monster Withinand Delta 4/24 gave way to joy in Epsilon 5/24 and S’envoler, releasing the thwarted desire for flight apparent in the videos Bêta 2/24, Icare and Gamma 3/24. S’envoler est la 4ecollaboration d’Estelle Clareton avec Montréal Danse, compagnie de création, laboratoire de recherche, plateforme de perfectionnement et d’accompagnement chorégraphique.
