LA CHAMBRE ANÉCHOÏQUE
To experience La chambre anéchoïque is to disengage from the world and listen to what is happening within the body. A non-performance viewed through the eyes of the belly.
An intense and atypical dancer and choreographer, Jean-Sébastien Lourdais rejects all constraints, including those of his own choreographic style. Far from the explosive tensions of his previous works, here he asks us to disengage from the world and tune in to our inner rhythms. An incursion into La chambre anéchoïque, a place where silence is so profound that the only audible song is the simmer of life under the skin.
An extensive network of copper wires is the metaphorical landscape of a living organism. Pieces of latex stretched over loudspeakers vibrate like eardrums. Breathing and resonance are the raw materials for the composer and musician Ludovic Gayer, also a performer on this occasion. Everything has an impact on everything else. Movement is guided by both sensation and sound. Individuals and the environment are together transformed. All is fluid. A journey into the centre of the self, viewed through the eyes of the belly.

Enlightened, All-out Nonconformist
During his 15-year career he has been consistent in his determination and radical in his choices, and now Jean-Sébastien Lourdais has moved from a universe of physical and psychic tensions that are both droll and disturbing to a sensory-based approach that demands of the spectator openness, patience and attention.
