girls ! girls ! girls !

PETER HINTON

Four adolescents, by all appearances normal kids, come up with an idea for something to do on a Saturday night. They decide to avenge the honour of a member of their gang who lost out in a gymnastics competition. Once the gymnastics champion falls for the trap, the violence feeds on itself until satiated.

Details

Short scenes as sharp as razor blades are interspersed with soliloquies, rap riffs and choreographed movement to reveal the disconnection between the heads and guts of these young people.. In the gang they are energized and hip-hop impervious to pain. Taken individually each one suffers, but introspection proves too painful and leads nowhere. Fearsomely effective, this play shows the full scope of disaster when emotional and spiritual emptiness becomes the norm.
