HALF LIFE

DANIEL BROOKS | NECESSARY ANGEL THEATRE COMPANY

A man and a woman, both in their 80s, meet and fall in love. A simple tale. But in fact, are they not rekindling an old flame? Hadn’t they previously met somewhere else under different circumstances? Why is their love so troubling for their children? Indeed, the light at dusk is sometimes warmer and more enveloping than that of the midday sun. The passions of the night, the fears of the day, a life only half known, lives lost and regained the world of the writer and mathematician John Mighton unfolds with grace and mystery.

Details

In his play Possible Worlds , a love affair leads to an exploration of the various parallel worlds of a man’s life and imagination. In this piece, once again characters navigate between being and appearance, between cowardice and dissoluteness. In the precise, lucid staging of Daniel Brooks, all the mysteries of this meditation on identity and on what is transmitted from one generation to another are linked together and revealed. It is a labyrinth that leads the audience into the obscure twists and turns of memory and forgetfulness.
