URBAN INK PRODUCTIONS

In telling the story of Rosemarie, a young Native woman who heads to the big city hoping to escape her destiny, Marie Clements draws on the traditions of the Amerindian storyteller and the ritual of healing. She revives the traditions by adapting them to a theatrical form where video, photos, music, words and performance beat a chaotic tattoo of a life of disillusionment and a wounded psyche.

Details

As though in a dream, Rosemarie is swept along in a whirlwind of images and poetry where she looks back on her life and rediscovers the sensitive dimensions of her imagination. Under Marie Clements’ guidance, she gathers up the bones of her memory, heals the flesh of her dreams and comes to terms with her past and present. Writer and actress Marie Clements is a direct descendant of this Metis woman who dreamed of becoming a movie star.
