Party Lots of Love

Organized and curated by Sasha Kleinplatz, Liliane Moussa, Emile Pineault, and Sarah Williams since 2021, the festival features a series of performances created for unconventional spaces like backyards, garages, parking lots, and parks. Characterized by the relinquishing of control by its curators and the fostering of radical trust within the community, it amplifies and brings together the voices of artists from diverse backgrounds and generations. This year, LOL is taking a break and focusing on one performance evening and an infamous party.

Tay’s work as choreographer and DJ has been showcased at leading international art and performance events, where he creates moments of unashamed queer abandon and euphoric dancefloor drama. He was part of FTA 2022 with his subversive performance Make Banana Cry, and has been named as one of the “50 under 50 shaping tomorrow” by Concordia University.

She is part of the cast of the musical Tootsie at Espace St-Denis and the play Marguerite: le feu by Émilie Monnet, presented at the Avignon Festival in France in 2023. Alongside her career as a performer, Catherine is a choreographer and dance teacher, as well as working in the cultural sector of her community in Wendake.

An alumnus of the contemporary dance program at Concordia University, he was taught by renowned teachers such as Angélique Willkie, Daniel Villeneuve and Isabelle Poirier. His fascination for how different practices can merge together led him to take part in works like INNERVISION (Martin Messier) and UNDERWATER (Caroline Laurin-Beaucage). Through movements and exchange, he thrives to find his authentic self.

As an artist in the realm of Montreal’s contemporary dance scene, Jossua Satinée aims to journey through the universe to share moments of joy, beauty, reflection, and diversity. Collaboration and human connection are significant motivations for creation.

Since 2015, she has been living and working in Montreal, where she co-founded the Vâtchik Danse collective with Kiasa Nazeran, a dramaturge, researcher, and performer. Their creations, inspired by the art and socio-political history of Iran, current political questions, and German expressionist aesthetics, include: Moi-Me-Man (2017), La Chute (2019), L’Inconsistance (2024).

Since 2020, Peng has been developing a dramaturgy for a body to move with and to act out Broke Broke Recitation, or BBR, which is her translation of a phrase used in Taiwan to describe how women ALWAYS talk NONSTOP about daily trivialities. She had her MFA in Theater Directing at CalArts, and is now working on her Ph.D. in the Humanities Program (Research-Creation track) at Concordia University.

Mycelium is a faery-worshipping transsexual sexpot with a dark theater kid past. It dabbles in indisciplinary cheap/low/dirt art, with a particular enthusiasm for puppets, corded microphones and magic.
